keep wanting to keep this topical- intended topic being: a moderately intellectual discussion of practical homesteading. or failing that a narrative of the trials and challenges that face us on the inside edge of corroding civilization. obviously, that's not really happening.
the problem with the former being: its not an intellectual endeavour. its very nearly anti-intellectual, as it occupies all available processing power with skills, chores, and observation - of plants wldlife and infrastructue. that's certainly one of the reasons I like it. intellectualism never really worked so well for me.
the problem with the latter is that its too vulgar-banal to be recounted. and also a bit embarrasing.
for instance yesterday would read something like this:
played on treo till 1230
redug (REDUG) ditch for the water line. took several breaks for water and sourdough. found a tiny pine glade and cleared some space inside it - could be a nice space if I ever get the astonighingly thorny trifoliate oreange dug up and replanter. spent time considering the possibly self defeating practice of extinguishing multiflora rose from the landscape - as it is intensively anti-personnel.
got the trench redug (REDUG), but now the line is too short.
entrancing, right? of course right.
I hope the line breaks work this time. palm is not a perfect os.
