fraggle rock in the background, typing treo, struggling for a breakthrough. hoping this blaag isn't a bust on the face of it. now the capacity I've been longing for, to write when and where- in the dark, rocking in my chair.
pensive and annoyed - tired of learning new things. don't want to mess with gas lines and chimney pipes right now, but there's no help for it.
nada on my case for building a house, but I can't even see a way to get started at this rate, allways something tiny and crucial, something that only requires I learn new skills and materials, terminology and a new section of the hardware store.
it sounds like fun, and it certainly is, compared to, say, working for a living, but its also this never ending race to stay warm and dry, and live cheap.
just like my last trip taught. warm and dry is the most valuable thing in existence. so probably its all worth it.
Hang in there man.

in this book shock of the old, a look at the impact of technology really broadly, not just early adopters, the number one invention of the 20th century was corrugated iron. people stayed dry, kids didn't get sick. all over the world, biggest impact.
