i may have a difficult amount of clay for dirt building. i know, say what?

but apparently +30% is subject to frost cracking, hich might be a problem in earthbags, which is what ive been planning to build with. but if i have to end up mixing sand into every bit of dirt i fill the bags with, it loses its time-economical edge over plain cob.

i have a lot of clay. my jar test has been in suspension for 2 weeks, untouched for 10 days - no sand/silt lines. at all.

we'll see, we'll see.

$130 at northern, ad i can split these hickory rounds that 30 determined blows with a maul wouldnt bust. usually i split them as shown, then maul them into smaller pieces. still unknown whether this tool will make ay impact on the 2ft diameter rounds still left, below the main crotch of the tree. if so, then our heating needs are covered for the season, and then some. if not, there's always coal.
