Skeins, that is. This is the baby blanket I'm knitting for my sister-in-law. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherds Worsted in the Rainbow colorway. I've been using Addi Turbo circulars, and I love them; they're so slippery! Originally, I had planned to make it following the "Big Bad Baby Blanket" pattern in the original Stitch'N'Bitch book, but the seed stitch border was making me crazy and I kept frogging it and starting over. Last month, when we were traveling in Southeast Asia, we crossed the border to Cambodia a couple of times. The poverty contrast between the two countries was astonishing, and by the end of that leg of the trip I decided I didn't like borders of either kind at all. So I started making up my own pattern.
The color variegation of the yarn was creating a random stripeing pattern, so I started changing stitch patterns to make quasirandom texture stripes. So far I've been using garter stitch and stockinette in alternating directions. I'm debating whether to throw some other kinds of stitches in there, if only to give myself a chance to practice new stitches. Ribbing? Lace? Seed? I'm open to suggestions...
This photo is beautiful. I found you through soulemama and am very interested in your yome, and life on 20 acres. Can't wait to follow the blog and read more!
