While we were in San Francisco for the holidays, I had the opportunity to go through my mother-in-law's stash. I found a couple of UFO's, and then this gloriously complete cross-stitch of a dragon and a castle. It turns out she didn't actually stitch it herself; her sister purchased it ten years ago for my then teenaged husband, who dismissed it as lame. It's been languishing in a drawer ever since. I have this exact pattern kicking around in my own stash as a "maybe one day" project for Logan; he immediately began dragging this thing around the house and calling it his dragon. So I took the cross-stitch and some fabric that was also floating around in her stash, and made it into a pillow for Logan's bed. Here's a closeup of the fabric.
I love how it looks like the veins on a leaf (at least to me).
I'm also loving the swatch portraits idea. I've got two fabric remnants I picked up in Tokyo that I had no idea what to do with or how to display, so this is perfect!
We're home again, and adjusting to the new schedule of Bradley being on his way to or at work 12 hrs a day, 6 days a week. Logan's having a hard time with it, especially after a year of having both of us work from home. There's been a lot of cuddling and book-reading. Hopefully next week will be better.
