There's finally some fall color around here, even if there hasn't really been much of fall temperatures. I snapped this photo while looking for color inspiration for Chara's Fall Swap. Immediately after taking this photo, the camera gave up on ever closing again, and is now completely useless. I guess it was 5 years old and overdue for an upgrade, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. So, it'll be phone cam pics or none at all for awhile....
Tomorrow is our soon-to-be-8-yr-old neighbor's birthday party at the local roller rink. I am ridiculosly excited about the chance to skate for the first time in a bajillion years. I hope I remember how! I've spent a lot of time lately trying to convince the birthday boy that roller skates are just as cool as roller blades (if not cooler), but he doesn't seem to be buying it. Roller skates and cupcakes. AWESOME.
This weekend is also Days of Yesteryear. All I really know is it's some newish local event involving ALOT of antique tractors and farm equipment. The tractors are already set up in the field here the evet will be held, which is totaly visible from the only road into town, so I've been having the same converstaion with Logan all afternoon about how we can't go see them right now, but we will. Later. Just not today. The concept of today/tomorrow/yesterday is almost hysterically difficult for him to understand, so this conversation has been repetive and frustrating. I mean, this is the same kid who, when I leave for work some mornings, hollers that he's not going to see me for a week...
Been cooking more lately. I mean REALLY cooking, not just boiling noodles and poring a jar of sauce over it and calling it dinner. This sweet potato soup was awesome; I used soyrizo instead of sausage. Soyrizo is the only prepackaged meat substitute I've ever found satisfying, and shockingly is available in our little town. We're not vegetarian, but our I don't really feel comfortable cooking meat in our kitchen yet. I just don't feel great about the hygeine issues. Although we just got a grill on clearance (thanks mama), so that may be about to change. We'll see.
A week from now we will be on our way to SAFF. So. EXCITED.
