Huntsville was awesome. There's something pleasing meta about blogging a picture of a blogger taking pro pics of knitters/bloggers. Also, the fact that there is both an Obama sticker (on the bumper of our big rusty truck) and a Dolores campaign flyer visible amuses me.
After the shoot he did a little booksigning, which I couldn't stay and line up for...
Met lots of nice knitters, got a tote (w/a cartoon from the book on it) for participating, and picked up some of the Noro Silk Garden Sock and the new Norah Gaughan collection...
I don't think I ever posted the Fern Shell I finished back in May, and I wore it for this, so...
Pattern: Fern Fitted Shell by Angela Hahn
Yarn: Jo Sharp Desert Garden Aran, color # 667 Dew (light purpley grey?)
Needles: Addi's, size 8
Notes/Mods: Worked one size for the lower half and the next size down for the top half... Used designers numbers, but redid the math/spacing over the same distance. This shell is worked bottom-up in the round, then flat from the armholes up, and there's a visible gauge variation when that switch happens due to the unforgiving cotton yarn. I'm glad to have tried working with cotton, but don't really want to again; definitely prefer the elasticity/springiness/generally-forgiving-nature-of wool and other animal fibers. Of course a woolly tanktop is just silly, but I could see this being a vest if you altered the neckline...
Hey that shell looks great. Good photo of you too. Enjoy!
